Information on Assembly Bill 2235

Joe Cowan is a member of the California Building Industry Association (CBIA).

Assembly Bill 2235, a statewide school facilities bond, is an important piece of legislation that will greatly improve our schools and student academic performance. Dave Cogdill, President & CEO of the California Building Industry Association, sent a letter to all CBIA members today asking for their support to ensure our voters pass this critical bond measure this coming November. The following is an excerpt from Dave Cogdill’s letter:

Yesterday, the authors of Assembly Bill 2235, Assemblymembers Joan Buchanan (D – Alamo) and Curt Hagman (R – Chino Hills), hosted a press conference advocating the need to place a statewide school facilities bond on the ballot this November. CBIA attended the conference along with a wide array of supporters including education advocates, labor and the greater business community. If you’d like to view clips from the press conference you can see them here.

Both leading up to the press conference and as a result, the past two days have been filled with prominent stories on the need for the school bond and the effort to pass it out of the legislature in a dozen newspapers and media sources around the state.

We wanted to share with you some of the highlights and hope that you and your company will utilize your networks to promote these stories and help us multiply our advocacy efforts.

  • Jim Miller of the Sacramento Bee wrote “Supporters make case for California school bond”.  In addition it appeared in the Fresno Bee and SLO Tribune.
