Josef Cowan founded the firm in 1993 and is personally involved in all client matters. Joe focuses on private securities offerings; angel, series seed, and venture capital transactions; start-ups; mergers and acquisitions; commercial transactions; entity formation and governance; and general corporate representation. Joe is also an experienced trial lawyer and represents select clients in litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution processes.
In addition to his law practice, Joe has extensive business experience and has been the chief executive officer of a number of businesses. Joe has also served as a member of the board of directors of several companies and organizations and has provided valuable guidance in the areas of strategic growth, legal compliance, debt restructuring, business development, and operations.
Joe has been a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) since 2009 and has served as his chapter’s chairman and as a member of its board of directors for several years. Joe is currently a member of YPO Gold (California Coast Chapter).
Joe graduated with high honors from U.C. Berkeley in 1988, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Rhetoric and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Joe obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1992.
